Authentic WW1 era Scottish infantry officer's basket hilted claymore broad sword
Authentic WW1 era (George V) Scottish infantry officer's basket hilted claymore broad sword. 32 3/4 inch blade, firm in hilt. Hilt with wear / knocks / age.

Fishskin grip has lost the twisted grip wire. The scabbard is OK but as seen. This is an authentic item (you can tell as it has fishskin for the grip - repros are leather / pig skin).

So I can not answer questions during that time, nor can I post the items until after I get back. Please check photos carefully for any damage we have missed describing; if we describe it or it is visible enough in the photos to show it partly or fully, that is it; ask if you want more condition qualification please. The packed weight of this item is 1.927 Kg. Also, we are unable to repack two items into one package.

It takes around a week and a half, sometimes less, sometimes more to Europe. About the same for Canada. A little bit more maybe for the USA. A little bit more again for Australia (normally around 2 weeks), and a little bit more again for New Zealand. Please note, postal services worldwide give themselves the luxury of 30 days in total to deliver before any item can be considered delayed or lost.

If you are unsure whether it is lawful for you to import such an item, you can check here with the postal union page (look for Section XIX / Chapter 93 for weapons) (it is a large pdf file and may take a few seconds to download). Our extra terms and conditions of sale We believe these are common sense and therefore will seem stupid to state for most people but apparently it is necessary. The items are not new and probably / may have been used in a conflict or battleground or other arduous environment somewhere. As such, they will have areas of wear and even damage.

We state the obvious wear and damage we see, but we do not provide definitive and / or exhaustive condition reports. We provide photographs for you to inspect for any damage. You agree and accept that if any damage is stated and / or clear in the photographs, you have accepted that damage exists. We will state the items clearly as what they are, as required of us by law.

6 We will not repack or open and then reseal items. 7 We provide tracking data though this is often very basic in terms of what information is provided by postal services. We are not able to call your post office to see where an item is; you must call your post office if you want to know. The post office we send from give themselves 30 days before a complaint / search can be done for a non-delivered item, so we can not ask before 30 days from posting as all we will get is a standard response stating that we must wait 30 days. So, it is better and faster for you to contact your local post office if the item has already left Portugal from where it is sent.

If your English skills or online translator are not that good, that is not our fault. If you misunderstand the meaning and content thereof, please, you can not hold us responsible. 9 " Pattern / Model / P / M ": Items described including the term "Pattern" and / or "Model" are examples of a general / typical style but with no guarantee of specific age and / or authenticity and / or country / region of manufacture unless otherwise stated. Where a year is prefixed and / or suffixed with the letter "M" and / or "P", for example M1811, 1897P, etc. The "M" stands for "Model" and "P" means "Pattern".

10 Fakes: We do not sell unlawful fakes (counterfeit) items. If we know something is a reproduction, we will state this. If an item is genuine, we will describe it as such. If we do not know either way, we will describe it factually but generically, for example "Scottish basket hilt pattern broadsword, Victorian VR cypher on sword's blade" means the sword is made in the pattern / style of a Scottish basket hilt broadsword; it does NOT mean we are stating it is a "Scottish Broadsword" per say. It also only means there is a Victorian VR cypher on the blade; it does NOT mean we are stating the item is actually Victorian (from the 19C).

In that example, if we are stating that the item is authentic Scottish and 19C, we would state it as a "Victorian Scottish Basket Hilted Broadsword" (note the absence of "model / pattern") and / or we will use the term "authentic". If we know if the item is a reproduction, we will use the term "repro" or "reproduction" or "modern" in the description. BUT, if we are unsure either way, we will simply describe an item generically. In addition, for example, if we use the description "Scottish basket hilted broadsword", we are not saying the sword was physically made in Scotland (in fact, most Scottish swords were not made in Scotland). If we wanted to say the sword was actually made in Scotland, we would describe it thus; "Scottish made basket hilted broadsword" and a Victorian example actually made in Scotland (not England) would be "Victorian Scottish made Basket Hilted Broadsword" (note the use of "made") Another example would be a "1897 British infantry officer's pattern sword" / "1897P British infantry officer's sword" / "1897 Pattern British infantry officer's sword"; this is NOT necessarily saying the sword dates to 1897 (only that is the date of the pattern / model), nor does it mean the sword was actually made in Britain, nor in the first example that it was actually used / bought / held / worn by a British infantry officer. If we wanted to say that the sword was made in 1897, made in Britain and carried by a British infantry officer, we would describe it thus; "Authentic British made 1897 pattern infantry officer's sword, made in 1897" or similar.

12 " Condition ": While we try to reasonably note the item's condition / show this in the photos, any condition reported / shown is not necessarily exhaustive. We can not be held responsible for any defect / damage which we missed in the description but is fairly clearly shown in the photos; if there appears to be some damage we have missed in the description, you need to ask us about it or take responsibility thereof. 14 Styrofoam chip and blue background mat: Sometimes we use a white or green styrofoam chip to hold the items in position to photograph them on the blue mat we use for background; neither the styrofoam chip nor the blue mat are included. 15 What you see is what you get: Unless we state otherwise in the description and with the exception of "14", what you see is what you get. If a sheath / scabbard is shown or stated as included in the description, it is.

If no sheath or scabbard is depicted or described, there is no sheath / scabbard included. 17 Recycled materials: We recycle the materials that we ourselves receive stuff in. If you want nice new stuff, we need to charge extra for this. 18 We pack in accordance with postal services requirements; this is indicated by the fact the postal services accept the parcels we give them. We do not charge for the time and effort and petrol / gasoline involved in the process. 20 Tracking: Economy registered tracking is normally not very good. Typically, the tracking will show when we took it to the post office, when it left Portugal and then when it was delivered. Please do not blame us / the Portuguese postal services. Tracking once the package arrives in your country is down to your postal services; please blame them for any lack of tracking. If you pay after the 21st (local time, BST), I will not post the item until the 30th September.
