Imperial German WWI Garde du Corps Kurassier Pickelhaube Spiked Helmet tunic
This is an ensemble of a One Year Volunteer of Prussia's famed "Garde du Corps". All of the items are of a size to fit a slim, small-framed person. Helmet: This is an early pattern helmet that has been updated to conform to 1867 regulations. It is complete and in excellent condition with no dents and only minor wear and some damage to the details on the plate.

The rear visor is lined in black leather, while the front visor is painted dark green. The rear visor is marked "GKR 3E" (Garde Kurassier Regiment, 3rd Eskadron, so not a true match to the ensemble). Cuirass: Basically an officers' pattern with silver border trim, but unadorned shoulder scales. It is lined in pale grey cloth over a quilted padding sporting a large pocket in the breast section. The leather belt and shoulder scale linings show age and cracking to their finish, but are fully intact.

There is minor dimpling appearing in the centre of the breast plate, and some damage to the silver border by the right armpit. Tunic: Off-white boiled wool construction, piped in red wool and fully lined in cotton or linen, with one interior breast pocket and two pockets in the skirt lining. The typical "guard" tabs are present on the cuffs and collar. Furthermore, the shoulder straps are piped in the Prussian colours denoting a One Year Volunteer, and the right sleeve bears two red stripes awarded for Lance Proficiency. There are a few small stains, moth tracking/nips, and numerous small period repairs. Guantlets: Constructed of buff/white leather with a suede type finish. There is some wear and discolouration, but they remain supple. Included is a pair of life-sized wooden posable hands. Sword: This is an M54 GdC or GKR officers' pattern sword as denoted by the Guard Star (Order of the Black Eagle) on the ray-skin handle. It includes a knot and one white leather hanging strap. The scabbard is free of dents and retains about 50% of its dulled nickel finish. No maker's mark on the blade, which has some darkening and freckling. Overall this is a super grouping with a lot of visual punch that could be fully completed without too much effort.
