Very Early and exceptionally rare SOLID 9ct Rose Gold SF&C SELEZI Transition Trench Watch. Stunning Large Half Hunter Case design. Case with button 38.85. Lug to lug 35.24. Transitioned From pocket watches these early examples of [wrist] watches inherited hinged front and back covers.

The lugs for a strap looked like a thick wire attachment to the classical round shape of pocket watches rather than an integrated part of the body of the later and modern wrist watches. Now often referred to as "wire lug" or "trench" watches often using ladies fob watch calibers it is not until much later we begin to find mass marketed purpose built wrist watc hes.

The name "wristlet" was used until the early 1930s and was eventually replaced by the modern name "wrist watch". Wristwatch predates the modern watch as we have come to know it Known now as the iconic "hunter Trench" watches of the first world war era. This particular example is a very early adaptation to the now widely used stem set movement we have come to know and not the pinset movements we see in similar watches of the era. As mentioned earlier this watch is a classic early "Savonette" (or "hunter") style pocket watch movement, which means that the seconds subdial would be a 6 o'clock with the crown at 3. Popularised in use during the first world war and now often referred to as "Trench" watches.

It is a beautiful solid gold case pleasingly un-engraved black enamel inset to the front outlines the the 12 hour dial in bold but slender roman numerals. Its clear from the comparison with the XL 38mm tudor (pictured) that this watch is well sized even by todays modern Large watches. (tudor not included only for comparison). A Very Good condition classic hunter enamel dial with bold roman numerals for the hours a minutes read on its perimeter subsidiary seconds situated at 6 of the dial and visible through the front case when closed as a Crescent moon shape a very attractive feature. We will include several straps with this watch including the black military style strap picture and fixed we will include a similar more classic strap (like the badge one pictured).
