Original WW1 British trench club

Genuine WW1 British trench club. It consists of an 18 inch wooden shaft with 20 large hobnails, each bearing the letter C or G makers mark?

And the handle has a tightly woven khaki thread. Its likely that this has been adapted from a rounders bat or simple cosh. There is old damage to the bottom of the handle and some loss of the thread, but there are no cracks or splits and no warping.

Overall it is in very good order and displays very nicely. A large variety of clubs were made, either at depot or local level for use in trench raiding from 1915 onwards. Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
