World War I Display Collection Of Harry Meese 35th Infantry Division- Missouri
World War I Display Collection Of Harry Meese - 35th Infantry Division- Missouri. This is a very special WW I grouping of Harry Meese of St. Louis, Missouri who served with the 35th Infantry Division during the Great War. It is contained in a very attractive display case. Harry was a Dental Assistant with the Sanitary Detachment.

His pair of Dog Tags. His WW I Victory medal with three bars; St.

Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne and Defensive Sector. A Third Army "A" patch that has been chain stitched. An 87th Division patch (I think). His National Guard Missouri Service Medal for action in the war with Germany.

Commemorative lighter presented to soldiers in the 35th Division upon their return to St. Louis is featured on one side with figures representing France and the United States on the other. Louis To The Front and From A Grateful City To Her Gallant Sons. Soldiers from the Missouri and Kansas National Guards formed the 35th Division. They suffered heavy casualties during the Battle of the Argonne Forest in 1918.

This lighter appears to be missing a cap which may be rolling inside the device and there is no wick. The top part of his American Legion pin/medal from the 1921 Kansas City, Missouri Convention. And a wonderful Trench Art piece that has been fashioned from a bullet, 3 human teeth (I assume), a blade and a small military button.

On the blade it reads "ARGONNE Sept 26 1918" (I think). Also will be included is a write-up from the Internet about the 35th Division which was quite active during the war. This is a wonderful item and worthy of a very special collection!
