The armor had a lovely look, though photos do not do it justice. There are sign of patina, and from my research I believe this to be a french set that was captured by the Prussians, and re-issued following 1871 and up into WW1. There appears to be one repaired hole at the center, in assuming either shrapnel or a bullet. A second hole behind the left hand buckle that is about a 8mm Lebel caliber in size.
I cannot find any markings either french or german. Both plates are matched and have come together. I've tried to photograph this as well as possibly, and if anymore pictures are needed please contact me.
