Superbly tailored light gray-green Naval Aviation tunic, hat and Balloon Aviation log book from Rolland Corbin, US Naval Aviator #621. This is the only Brooks Brothers uniform I remember seeing, named on that BB tag inside one of the breast pockets. Also, there is a silk "C" sewn in the interior of the coat. The tunic has a rather unusual high collar with a bend in it, showing up to greatest effect when the hooks are fastened, and when comparing this tunic (and the hat, for that matter) with the image of Corbin from FLYING OFFICERS OF THE USN, it is definitely the identical uniform he is wearing in the photo. There is one moth hole in the tunic, around where a belt would lie, kind of under the arm on the viewers right side, not easy to spot and not a big deal.

The wing, to me, looks like early 1920's, and I assume this man would have been in the reserve force for a few years which probably explains it's being here. It's a very high grade wing, no berries, straight drop safety catch, pierced around the anchor. No maker marks present on the wing.

The visor hat shows light age, a few moth dings, and a Pensacola FL store label to the sweatband (John White Store). Again, this is definitely the same hat he is wearing in the photo. Wonderful log book shows lots of flights, mostly in dirigibles, during the war only. Also a cabinet photo of a seaplane, copy image of Corbin and his brother, another snapshot of a naval aviator, but not sure who he is. Comes with research on him, including his obituary which clearly references his naval career as a really early balloon pilot in Florida. LOG BOOK INFO: 1st entry is 5/4/1918 and there are 4 filled sections ending on 12/13/1918, earlier ones are at Pensacola, all from 8/1 on are at Key West. There are 2 further sections filled out, later in the book, dates being from 11/26/18 to 12/10/18, all at Key West, can't make out type of plane or balloon, looks like "K" is the type, perhaps Kite Balloon. These lots are from the collection of the pioneer WWI collector and historian Bob Ford, my close friend. Many came from the family of the veteran, the veteran himself or an agent of their family. All lots are unconditionally guaranteed to be genuine and as shown. See image and title for any info, and ask any questions you may have!
