The Library of Congress holds this same poster in its permanent World War I poster collection. Issued during the Red Cross War Fund campaigns of 1918, when the American Red Cross mobilized millions of volunteers and dollars to support U. Grant, best known as a marine painter (his painting of the USS Constitution hung in the White House), contributed several designs to the war effort; this is his best-known Red Cross image.
