Original 1918 WWI Red Cross Poster Gordon Grant Loyalty to One Means Loyalty

Two American doughboys in WWI uniform march side by side carrying the Stars and Stripes and the Red Cross flag, with the slogan in bold red lettering. Grant's signature is printed in the image at lower right. This is an original World War I printing, NOT a modern reproduction.

The Library of Congress holds this same poster in its permanent World War I poster collection. Issued during the Red Cross War Fund campaigns of 1918, when the American Red Cross mobilized millions of volunteers and dollars to support U. Grant, best known as a marine painter (his painting of the USS Constitution hung in the White House), contributed several designs to the war effort; this is his best-known Red Cross image. SIZE : approximately 24" x 18".

CONDITION : Honest wartime survivor, displayed as found and never restored. Original fold lines from wartime distribution.
