ORIGINAL WWI RARE USAS PILOT AVIATOR WINGS DREHER NAMED INSIGNIA ID PAPERS GROUP
Up for sale is a group of ORIGINAL WWI items, including a very rare DREHER wing, from a man who started out in the MD National Guard and then went on to to air service training and then became a pilot. I bought these items directly from the granddaughter of the man a number of years back. His name was Alfred Marion Green. He DID NOT go overseas. At the bottom is all of his info that I got from Ancestry. The wing is in excellent condition.

On the back, it says E. DREHER & SON NEWARK, N. On the back is etched his initials A.

And either WW or WWI. They measure slightly over 3.5 and the pin catch works perfectly.

Also included is his crash bracelet which has his name, A. ARMY on the front and CENTERVILLE, MD (where he was from) on the back. The bracelet was made by Tiffany and on the back in small print says TIFFANY & CO. MAKERS STERLING and some sort of mark.

The bracelet catch works perfectly. Other insignia include his hat device (no mark) including lug nut, his Signal Corps collar insignia which is marked B. And BRONZE and his U.

Collar insignia which is unmarked. Both pin backs work perfectly. Finally, there is a lapel device with a propeller on an eagle. A and is marked WHITEHEAD & HOAG on the back. Apparently, it stands for the Aerial League of America, a circa WWI civilian aviation organization.

Of interest, he also belonged to the Order of Daedalians. If you go on their website, his number is 2051 under GREEN, ALFRED M. As for paperwork, there are his discharge papers from the MD National Guard, his framed commission papers, his Aero Club of America Aviator's Certificate with his picture (the wings he is wearing look like the wings for sale) and his discharge papers dated January 9, 1919. Unfortunately, I can only fit 12 pictures. ERC 7/25/17 pvt 1c, School of Mil Aero Cornell Univ 8/25/17; Av Sec Sig C Selfridge Field Mich.
