Issued canteen that is I'd to a Wisconsin WWI Veteran. Here's your chance to become the next care taker of a rare piece! Krogstad enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on July 7th, 1917. He participated in The Defensive Sector at Marbache, The St. Mihiel Offensive and The Battle of Blanc Mont Ridge.

Krogstad is also was a member of, 74th CO. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for actions against the enemy. WIA (Gassed) while serving as a Squad leader with the 74th Co (A).

During a German artillery gas attack on his CO's position near Camp Beauchamp during The Defensive Sector at Verdun (Toulon) on the early morning of Saturday, April 13th, 1918. He also participated in The Battle of the Aisne (Belleau Wood), The Aisne-Marne Offensive, The Defensive Sector at Marbache, St. Mihiel Offensive, The Battle of Blanc Mont Ridge, and the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. This is an original canteen and has some dents and scratches. The canteen is decorated with the E.

On the front and 5th Marines. On the back is 8th M.

With a French Hotchkiss below. On the bottom you can see C. Also an A or some other letter? One last note for fun. When I originally got this the canteen and opened it up it, the smell reminded me of Peppermint Schnapps. It sounds funny, but I can imagine this guy on occupation duty in Germany and having it filled with something mint.

To me there's still a hint of it in my opinion. The item "Original WWI U. /United States Marine Corps Canteen, I'D Wisconsin Marine" is in sale since Wednesday, August 14, 2019.
