Beautiful pair of original WWI trench art vases, handcrafted from French 75mm artillery shell casings. These striking brass vases feature detailed repoussé floral work and classic wartime craftsmanship.
One of the vases includes two hand-engraved inscriptions, made by the soldier-artist during or shortly after the conflict. "Vailly" - referencing Vailly-sur-Aisne, a major WWI battle area in northern France. "Juin 1917" - engraved June 1917, placing the creation firmly within wartime. Both vases measure approximately 9.
These are authentic WWI pieces exhibiting the distinctive patina, texture, and workmanship of early 20th-century trench art. They make an exceptional addition for collectors of military history, antique brassware, and handmade wartime artifacts. Condition: Vintage WWI condition with age-appropriate patina and wear.
A rare and meaningful historical set.
