This is a first year issued bayonet. The Bayonet is used, see photo's for Condition, original bright finish.
Some discoloration of the blade. NO evidence of sharpening on the blade. The markings are crips and easy to read. The walnut grips are in average condition. The scabbard is a Original M1905 2nd Pattern Leather Scabbard, with the Krag-Style Belt Hook and long metal throat. This scabbard is in Nice Condition and is Extremely RARE. It has not been modified, as most of these were. It has the original marking RIA 1909 H. Some wear to the leahter in spots, the leather at the tip is damaged (see photo's).It is still soft and supple. With the introduction of the M1910 Pistol/Utility Belts using the M1910 belt hook system, it was deceided to modify the existing stock of M1905 Scabbard by removing the Krag-style wire hook and replacing it with the M1910 Belt Hook. Unmodified versions of the Scabbard are Very Scarce.
All M1905 Leather Scabbards, original and/or modified, are VERY RARE and desirable. This bayonet will fit the M1903/A3 Springfield Rifles and the M1 Garand Rifle.
