WW1 ASC Trench Cap c1916/17
A beautiful untouched and Very Rare, WW1 Army Service Corps Trench Cap. The Cap is in excellent all original combat worn condition and still retains its original ASC cap badge to the front an general service buttons to either side of is leather chinstrap. The cap is the rare desirable early version with part oilcloth, part cotton lining which dates it between 1916 / very early 1917. From 1917 onwards, the caps had an all cotton lining as an austerity measure which continued until the end of the war.
The nap of the cloth is good with no mothing and there is evidence of the service mans details to the inside lining. With the correct light, this may offer an opportunity for further research. An iconic item of the ww1 British Tommy and seldom seen these days. This Trench Cap came from a grouping of other items which are also listed including a MK1 1904 dated Bandolier, early 03 pattern belt and 1916 Mounted troops side pack so please view my other items.
