WWI Imperial German Army Air Services Flight Helmet

WWI Imperial German Army Air Services Flight Helmet. This is a very well preserved German flying service helmet marked FLg. B (Flieger Battalion) and dated 1916.

The helmet is made of black leather wrapped cork with a leather chin strap and black painted steel buckle. The ear flaps and neck flap are made of soft black leather with canvas lining.

The same type of leather makes the inner lining of the helmet. The helmet is 7.28 inches (18.5 cm) tall, 9.84 inches (25 cm) wide and 8.26 inches (21 cm) deep.

The UK size is 6 ¾, EU size is 55, US size is 6 7/8. The helmet weighs 700 grams. The helmet is in very condition for its age with some cracks on the leather of the cork rim.
