12 Pre WWI US Army M1903 Mills Canteen Straps RIA 1904 Rock Island Arsenal. I believe these were never used. All are marked RIA 1904. One is complete with the fold and top clip.

The rest were either never finished or were for some other purpose. Pre-WWI Era US Army M1903 Canteen Strap Adapter. The strap is marked: RIA 1904. This strap replaced the leather shoulder strap, that was previously used for this canteen. This strap permitted the canteen to be carried on the M1903 Canvas Cartridge Belt, via the grommets on the belt, rather than over the shoulder.

This strap had a short service life, as it was replaced with the introduction of the M1910 Canteen which was made to be carried directly on the Pistol or Cartridge Belts.
