Rare and highly sought after tongue vise. Used from the Civil War thru WW1 by blacksmiths and farriers that followed the troops shoeing horses and repairing equipment. Pictures of these setups can be found on Google.
Jaw width is 4 inches and actual weight is lbs. No marks on it that I found. Note there is a chip in the front jaw. Also replaced the hex nuts with some that were in better condition that looked like the original. Great little vise for the smith that sets up at shows or does Civil War re enactments.
