AU6: Wounded Galipoli WWI Star/BWM/Victory Trio: Died in France, Papers/Ephemera. This WWI trio of 1914-18 Star, British War Medal & Allied Victory medal was awarded to 300 Sgt J S Daniel 7 Bn AIF. With the medals there are dog tags (including improvised bracelet version), Sergeants stripes & full Photostat copies of his record of service. James Gardiner Daniel was wounded in the leg at Galipoli, declared fit & re-joined the regiment. Hospitalised again with subsequent complications including septicaemia.
Recovered and once declared again fit for duty. Went on to serve in France where was once again shot in the leg and died of his wounds. In the records are the attestation papers, details of court martial (busted to the ranks), his campaigns, correspondence between family and army command and lots more reading and personal history. Lastly but not leastly the collection has the silver enamelled Fathers Sailor & Soldier Assoc. This is a serious piece of Australian military history and worthy of any dedicated collection.The medals are NEF (Nearly Extremely Fine: few blemishes or contact marks), the stipes are faded but in very good condition, the dog tags are in good condition, the Fathers badge is very good condition. Overall weight with papers: 400gm. We have several Medal Groups and Militaria items listed this week. In fairness to all interested buyers we DO NOT accept BIN offers or end auctions early.
