This early trench watch is a very different watch: if it isn't a conversion, and I do not think it is, its the largest trench watch I've ever seen. The casing, which is maybe pewter, or some other type of mixed metal alloy, looks truly old. I don't know of any conversions that look like this. That is why it caught my eye in the first place. There is however one flaw: the dial was beginning to flake and someone must have sprayed it with a lacquer/krylon to stop and further dial deterioration. It gives the dial a glossy effect that was hard to capture in photos.

Even with it this is something different and special that should be of particular interest to early wrist collectors. I included a comparison shot with a 34MM Longines trench watch to illustrate the major size difference. Fine movement with swan neck regulator and engraved balance cock was just serviced.

Diameter: 45 mm w/out crown, 47 mm w/crown, 58 mm lug to lug. Lug Width: 20 mm at the lugs tapering to 16 mm (will take a 20 mm strap).

Movement: Audemars Freres manual winding high grade with swan neck fine regulator and engraved balance cock. Oversized case that I believe to be around 100 years old, WW1 era; probably was custom made at its birth or fitted up to a wrist case during the war; very unusual; case shows a heavy patina. Looks as if they also tried to relume numerals....

The dial was sprayed with some kind of acrylic which gives it a glossy effect; it also had its hands painted white, lastly the sub seconds hand is half gone; the hand issues are correctable if your watchmaker has a good stash of hands that would work... I've chosen to leave it as found; I'm over describing dial for no surprises but I don't think its quite as bad as it sounds. Condition: 75% case shows heavy aging, dial was at some point sprayed with acrylic, watch was just serviced and is running well. We are quick to respond, agreeable, and easy.
