British WW1 Officer's 'Cutaway' Cuff Rank Service Dress Jacket. Gordon H'landers

A a really super example of a british wwi officer's 'cutaway' service dress cuff rank jack to a 2nd lieutenant in the gordon highlanders. This gordons tunic is excellent condition; and is a classic example of a great war scottish 'rounded off' doublet cut uniform to a famous highland regiment. The jacket is made from a very high quality heavyweight barathea type material; featuring the typical ww1 tailoring details of a waistband and 'ticket pocket' to the exterior. Buttons are all matching officer's gm gordon highlanders, with matching fixing stitching indicating they are original to the tunic.

Collar dogs are a very nice quality osd bronzed sphinxes upon an egypt tablet - an insignia callback to the regiment's origins in the 92nd regiment of foot. One retains the majority of bronzing, while one shows wear to its brass base (see images for details). No sign of any other collars being worn at all. Both button hooks are present to the rear.

Cuff rank lace/ braid is of the typical rank chevron type, and styled in correct scottish 'gauntlet' fashion. One cloth pip - for 2nd lieutenant - to each cuff panel and with no signs of any others ever having been mounted. It is fully lined - cotton to the sleeves, and a kind of green-gold sateen to the interior. Excellent quality padding to shoulders, and with two internal breast pockets.

No dressing pocket, as is generally the case in scottish jackets - the rounding off leaving no space for one. No markings of any kind, and no sign of a tailor's label. Only three (minor) things stop this tunic from being perfect: there is a patched repair to the lining on the left vent (see picture), a small graze/ nip to the front (see picture) and one breast pocket button is missing. Otherwise, it is in really super condition. It is a medium to small size.

Armpit to armpit, across the back, is 48cm/ 19 approx. Base of the epaulette to the cuff: 64.5cm/ 24.5.

Please study the images carefully to satisfy yourself as to condition; as i have tried to show as much useful detail as possible. All in all, a superb opportunity to obtain a rare great war subaltern's uniform in great condition; and a 'must' for the serious wwi collector. Please note that the kilt cover/ apron and cap comforter are.
