Short history of the WWW Dirty Dozen watches. During WWII the MOD needed more watches so designed a new set of specifications for a watch to replace the A. Twelve Swiss watch companies were given the contract, Buren, Cyma, Eterna, Grana, Jaeger LeCoultre, Lemania, Longines, IWC, Omega, Record & Vertex.

All 12 have the same features, black arabic dial, sub seconds dial, luminous hands & dial & waterproof, the new specification was called WWW (Watch Wristlet Waterproof). These twelve watches are now referred to by military watch collectors as the Dirty Dozen. Perhaps one of the most contemporary WWW watch cases. Partly due to its Larger size, the CYMA has a presence at 38mm in diameter (without the crown).

45mm lug tip to lug tip and 18mm lug spacing. Even by today's standards, this is not a small watch and is huge for the era as well as the exceptionally hermetic screw down case back and seal. The watch is as waterproof and as dustproof as possible to achieve in 1944. Imagine, what this watch has seen....

The Case of the CYMA, W. Is also one of the few "Dirty Dozen" Watches that is ALL Stainless STEEL and not a chrome plated Brass or Alloy, as most other WWW`s. Steel was needed for the War Effort.

Therefore one of the most sought after W. Needless to say, but the CYMA "wears big" Looks big on the wrist. One of its most "contemporary" design points its prominent "bezel" and in the case of this watch in SUPERB condition sharp clear defined only the mildest wear visible on this watch has NOT been refinished in our opinion. Good clean defined sharp edges are a testament to this. Case back in stainless Steel P stamped & serial numbered both inside and externally.

Matte Powder black dial all Arabic numerals and perimeter seconds track in white "CYMA" and the Pheon at 12 "Swiss Made" at 6. A Lot of these Radium dials were destroyed in the 70s.
