Imperial German WW1 Baden Lieb 109 Infantry Pickelhaube Spike Helmet Bullet Hole
This is an original WW1 era Baden Lieb-Grenadier 109th Infantry Regiment Infantry enlisted mans black lacquer finished leather pickelhaube. Silver colour metal front plate and other metal fixtures. The helmet body extremely well formed still though it is battle damaged. The damage is in the from of two holes, one small and one large caused by the in-and-out path of a bullet. Classic small entrance hole with large explosive outward exit hole. The holes align perfectly and are high up on the helmet bowl thus it may have been a grazing wound that dug a forrow across the top of the soldier scalp. The discolouration on the interior of the pickelhaube appears to be from blood. The images speak fro themselves. The helmet visor shows that it was clearly worn in the field from the crimping damage caused by the clips of the helmet covers. Spike has a few minor dents in it. The spike is removable as is correct for titled regiment such as the 109th. Serrated Reichs and Baden cockades. Heavy leather enlisted type liner that is well preserved overall. Partially damaged with a couple fo tab ends missing in part it appears due to the battle damage sustained by the helmet. Correct regimental and arsenal stamp marking on the underside face of the rear visor, with "R109" being visible. Overall extremely well preserved for an item of this age and a very unique piece of history as a result of the obvious battle damage it sustained in battle. I will send more images to anyone who wants them if you tell me what it is you wish to see additional pictures of. More Imperial German pickelhaubes to list as well, pruning the collection. I'm listing this helmet once only. I', not sure I want to part with it. And please don't make me idiotic penny-on-the-dollar offers for this item either. I know what it is worth.
