M1916 German WW1 German Prussian Cuirassier Steel Helmet. The helmet is entirely made of steel and it was used during the First World War Imperial German army by the cuirassier units and some mounted infantry units. This helmet is a lobster tail cavalry pattern with a green drab painted spike. This helmet may be an ersatz (replacement) piece, judging by the way it is manufactured. The green skull bears on the front the green painted eagle badge.

The helmet rims are also green painted. Its small cockades are of tin, one painted in the Prussian colours, black and white, and the other one in red, white and black, the empires flag. The chinstrap is made of plain brown leather with steel buckles.

Its lining is of brown leather and the interior of the skull black painted. The interior of the front peak is painted green and the rear one is black.

The helmets height, including the spike is 13 inches (33 cm), its width is 12.15 inches (31 cm) and its depth is 8 inches (20.3 cm). The skull has some dents, loss of paint and minimal rust. The spikes base is slightly dented.
