Of Switzerland for the USA market under the Patria only. I have shown the watch on top of a copy of my original 1915 Omega Watch Company US Dealers booklet, the original copy of this booklet is now at the Omega Museum in Switzerlandthe curator at the time (Marco) asked for it to be used on display and I was happy to donate it. This triple signed Patria timepiece has real antique presence on the wrist, measuring a solid 40mm lug tip to lug tip and 34.5mm in width (36.8mm with original Onion-style silver crown).
This works out to be just shy of 1-5/8 long by just under 1-3/8 wide, not including the crown. My trusted watchmaker David has fully serviced its 15 jewel, Patria-signed mechanism, ensuring it keeps accurate time. The original white, porcelain enamel dial is in excellent condition, one tiny edge flake under the bezel but NO hairlines or wear it is exactly as it was when it left the factory 100 years ago.
It features a 60 minute checkered outer track border, original blue steel hands , black bordered Arabic numbers and recessed sub-seconds dial with 60 second outer chapter and sweeping blue steel seconds hand. Signed PATRIA in black enamel letters below the 12 and SWISS MADE at the base of the dial. The solid glass crystal is in excellent condition. The three-piece, hinged back case is either nickel or nickel silver and Patria-signed. It is in great shape with just light evidence of age from normal use.Note its wider than normal wire lugs, accommodating an 18mm strap (often WWI watches had very narrow lug openings). The original Onion style silver winding crown is in excellent shape, operating smoothly. Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is very clean and without any engravings some surface marks from contact against the wrist but in very good to great shape. Peeking inside I find a freshly serviced, high quality, Fifteen Jewel manual wind lever escapement movement signed PATRIA W.
SWISS FIFTEEN 15 JEWELS, TWO 2 ADJUSTMENTS. The inside of the outer case lid is signed PATRIA WATCH CO. SWISS with case number below. This watch has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and set smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a 18mm dark brown oil leather strap complete with fold over ends especially designed for wire lug watches such as this. I like how the color of this band works well with the color of the original radium coating on the numbers and hands.Truly a great ORIGINAL example of a true WWI military Omega Patria timepiece - even nicer in person. Watch sizes: I provide exact case measurements in millimeters (the watch industry standard) and inches, and include a U. Quarter in one photo as a size reference. Draw the measurements on a piece of paper to help visualize the watch on your wrist. Remember, mens vintage watches are noticeably smaller than oversized timepieces you see today.
Prefer a brown strap instead of black? For most mens watches I can switch the color before mailing; just let me know. These charges are your responsibility. It will be corrected and quickly mailed back to you. If you like unique and collectible vintage or antique wristwatches, add me as one of your favorite sellers.
