Just a very nice identified WW1 USMC WW1 helmet with medals documents and copies of paperwork. The helmet is named to Edward Vernon Hardy who enlisted in the Corp 4/23/18 and served until 8/9/19. The painted square on the front is for the 3rd of the 5th Marines and Mr Hardy was in Company K. The helmet is in very nice shape but has a broken chin strap which I think could be repaired..
The helmet has two punched not drilled holes in it and both holes show evidence of USMC EGAs having been in them at one time. The helmet comes with Mr. Hardy, a Promotion document dated June 1st 1926 when he was made 1st Sgt. In the Utah National Guard;one of his Officers Collar Brass for the 222nd Field Artillery when he made Lieutenant and two screw back distinctive insignia related to his National guard service. The group also comes with four more copies of pages relating to his Utah service time. This did not come out of a collection its out of the woodwork and its a great little group. If you wonder what the letters TH stand for his Nickname was TED HARDY. The square on the front of the helmet is not dark blue it is black so Mr. Hardy was in Headquarters Co not the 3/5th as stated.
