This is a genuine and rare pair of British WW1 1902 pattern infantrymans' trousers. This particular example is of the 1915 modification with the tin buttons in sets of two. It retains much of its original paper label up on the rear left seat but its too washed out to read the details. It has all its white lining and is stamped 38 over W/I\D over L which is the pre 1919 war department and acceptance markings. The side pockets are reinforced with the correct wartime two horizontal rows of stitching.
The rear waist band has lost some of its original tin buttons but which have been replaced by the original owner with wartime economy buttons, one of which is complete and the other is missing its facing. The complete one is a compressed leather button with the impressed coat of arms. This was a wartime expedient and was withdrawn from use immediately after the war. As regards size, they are an approximate 32-33 inch waist and 32 inch leg. There is some slight wear to the nap of cloth in places and half a dozen small moth nips, but overall in good used condition.
