Original WW1 Wooden Gas Alarm Noise Maker Trench Tool

This one is slightly different from the other 2 as the paddle is at a bit of an angle and the handle was made a longer possibly on purpose after messing up the paddle? This is definitely one of the better condition ones from my collection. Original WW1 Gas Alarm used to make a loud clacking noise (still working) to warn nearby soldiers of gas attack. It is fairly simple how it functions, as the handle turns, the wooden flap/ paddle slides off of the tooth of the wooden gear and slams into the next one.

These were used in both WW1 and WW2 with many different designs. Places in Europe were having civilians use these as an Air Raid warning. Has some discoloration due to age but still a nice piece. It measures 11 inches in length, and the handle across is about 8 inches.
