Fantastic French WWI Model 1914 combat uniform. It's hard, for us today, to imagine going to battle wearing flaming red trousers and a fancy Blue tunic, but that's exactly what the French did at the beginning of WWI.When the war broke out their we still wearing the bright kind of uniforms that were popular up until and including the Napoleonic wars. It wasn't until 1915 that they switched to their famous "Horizon Blue" uniform. This set is almost 130 years old and, as may be expected, it has not escaped the ravages of time. It does have a number of repairs, moth nips, etc.
I have tried to photograph the worst of them for you to examine. As can be seem from the photos it displays well, and would make a nice addition to any WWI collection or museum display. Includes Jacket, trousers, epilettes, and leather puttees. Shoulder to shoulder - - 16.
Arm pit to Arm pit - - 18. Shoulder to cuff - - 23.
