Original WWI German (Prussian) Ersatz Uhlan Czapska (Lancer's Helmet)

An excellent example of a rare variant of the ersatz lance cap. Unlike those with a "screw off" metal mortarboard, this one has the black lacquered metal top permanently attached. It was made by A. Wunderlich of Berlin, but is undated.

There are some issue marks at the front of the crown, but they have been inked out. I honestly don't recall if it had the feldzeiche black/white badge on it when I acquired it, and I may have added an original to it. However, if it is a repro, then I must have found an excellent one, as I can't see the difference! I hesitate to pull the insignia out of its socket, as it is in there really tight. The chinstrap is original to the helmet, but the "less than stellar" (not in the photographs) original national kokarde, is a replacement.
