For sale today is an original WWI US M1903 cartridge belt. The 9-pocket m1903 was used by American military units until the introduction of the the m1910 cartridge belt were fielded. This model was made for the cavalry, with the leather chape and ring for the saber hanger which was riveted to the left side of the belt.
The rimless eagle snaps were used on field gear up to 1914. The back of the belt has a cavalry stencil with the top marking a "309" and the bottom M? (I'm unable to make out the second part).
The two side numbers appear to be 9? But I cannot discern the second number on either mark. The belt is made by Mills, and event though there is no date the rimless eagle snaps indicate the belt was produced in 1914, if not earlier. This belt is in very good condition with only minor signs of age.It is hard to believe this belt is over 100 years old, but all parts are present and working. Thank you for looking at my item and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.
