ORIGINAL WWI Victory Liberty Loan Poster Americans All Howard Chandler Christy

This is an original poster from the estate of Ruth Von Euw, originally from the personal collection of her father, Stephen Von Euw, who had been the editor of the Rockville (CT) Journal from the 1930s until his death in 1955. During World War II, Von Euw had made sure that every local serviceman and servicewomen received free copies of the newspaper wherever they were posted. This is an old item dated to the WWI period, as such, you should expect wear commensurate with age and use, as pictured. There are roll and fold markings, as well as chipping.

There may be stains, wrinkles, minor nicks, rips at the edges, and other signs of wear. There are a number of rips at the edges between 1-3 inches long, especially along the right edge. There are some long lines on the left side of the poster... It looks, perhaps, like rips that have been repaired. If not, they are deep creases.

Artwork on the poster was done by Howard Chandler Christy. He was a prominent figure in the field of American illustration and was particularly famous for his romantic and idealized depictions of beautiful women, often referred to as Christy Girls. His illustrations and paintings were widely popular during his lifetime and continue to be recognized for their iconic representation of American ideals and beauty.
