Original WWI / WW1 Imperial German War Flag / Reichskriegsflagge

For sale is an original Imperial German war ensign, dating from the era of the First World War. The flag is made of cotton, with a multi-piece construction consisting of three sewn together sections of fabric, the meeting points of which are clearly visible in the attached photos.

There are multiple lines of stitching around the perimeter of the flag along with addition pieces of cloth at the edges to reinforce it, a common feature of authentic German flags from this era. The hoist rope was removed by a previous owner who had mounted it in a frame (not included). The eagle in the center has excellent detail, and the flag overall is in great condition for its age.
