
Original WWI WWII US Soldier's Belongings Kit Bag Contents Spats Bible Shaving Items. Welcome to my offering for this original World War I and a few World War II items.
This is a collection of World War 1 and World War 2 items including correspondence, booklets, soldier's personal items and more. WWII British Army soap/supply container - aluminum, does have dents and inside rust, approx. 3.75" by just under 2.75". Has initials scratched on the outside rim of one piece, EDW FILIP. WWI/WWII military field mirror with pouch - used for personal hygiene and as a signaling device.4" by 3" and has a hole for hanging. No markings on the mirror or pouch. General Purpose Pouch - used as utility pouch for carrying items in a larger pack or for personal essentials. Military grade rope/cordage - could have been used as an antenna hold down, for making or repairing helmet nets or as a general purpose utility cord. One length is on a square piece of wood, the other on a cut piece of what appears to be a cigar box.
Williams Shaving Stick empty tin - wrapped in leather, says Williams Travelers Favorite Shaving Stick. Some of the inside of the lid is rusted making the words difficult to make out. Measures just over 3.25 tall. JB Williams Co tin with no lid - markings on bottom, measures just over 3 tall. Lead weight - measures just over 3" long and just under 1" across the widest point. Does have scuffs and scratches, no markings.Brass lighter with cap - looks like an ammo shell, just under 3.5 tall with cap, cap says GEORGIVS V DEI GRA BRITT:OMN REX FID:DEFIND:IMP with face of a man. Wheel spins freely, no spark. Bottom unscrews, there is several inches of braided material. White cardboard poker chip - has all four suits on each side. Aluminum tube with cap - has something solid in tube, can make out SHEFFIELD'S CREME DEN but the rest is faded.
Tube measures just under 2.5 in length. Lead pulley with brass wheel - just under 3.75" by 1.25" by 0.5, shield shape on both sides.
Cardboard box - 9" by 2" by just over 1.75, has wreaths and bows on top part of box, Ed Filip written on bottom. Holds several of the items in this grouping.Tent stake windline - measures approx. Army green boot lace - one, measures 62. Kleinert pouch - possibly a general purpose pouch, might have held personal accessories, tools or goods. It measures approx 16.25" by 8.75".
Buckle has a little patina, pouch is stiff. 1 pr canvas leggings - measure approx. 9.5" across the bottom, 13.5" across the top, 10" tall at center, just over 10.5" at the eyelets. Both drawstrings still attached and in good condition. Leather gloves with strap at wrist to tighten - right glove measures 9.75" from middle finger to cuff, left glove measures just under 11" from middle finger to cuff.
General purpose pouch - unbranded, flap folded it measures approx. It is frayed and has not been cleaned in decades. Small two sided pouch - unbranded, measures just under 11" by 7", has snap on one side. Postcard of Hotel McAlpin in New York - unused, is discolored. Postcard OUR FRIENDSHIP - postmarked Jan 6, 1919 Philadelphia, PA and Jan 14 Fitchburg. Addressed to Pri Edward Filip. Postcard A Happy New Year - written on but not stamped or postmarked. Boston War Camp Community Service Song Sheet - has tears, discoloration, staining. Discharged Soldier tag - unused, has twine intact. When You Get Home - American Red Cross booklet, has discoloration, cover loose from rest of booklet.Now for the Seven Seas! Letter to the soldiers and sailors of America - dated December 4, 1918, from the Treasury Department. Small song booklet - begins with song 3, ends with song 30.
