A very fine 1796 pattern British Army cavalry officers sword and scabbard, ivory, with blue & gilt engraved blade by Runkel. Features gilt brass stirrup hilt with diced ivory grip, showing one 3cm long hairline crack to both sides of grip base.
Engraved mounts and langets decorated with military trophies. Curved fullered blade, signed for Runkel Solingen, retaining approximately 80% of original blued and gilt decoration. Gilt brass mounted leather scabbard, signed on locket'Prosser late Cullum Sword Cutler to The King and Duke of York Charing Cross'. A rare sword in exceptionally good condition.
