The wire bound fish skin grip is in good condition, with some wear point to the left side, with full wire wrap. The guard shows light wear and age toning overall. The 87cm long, slightly curved blade shows good etchings of foliate patterns with cannon, flaming bomb, unit engraved panel showing'3rd Middlesex Vol Artillery' (1861 to 1908) with maker mark for Jones. Chalk & Dawson Sackville Str London. Light period sharpening to edge, very small area of pitting to one side of lower end, but generally a good conditioned piece commensurate with age.
Numbered 1475 to blade spine. The leather service scabbard is in good/solid condition, with dark age & 15 cm length of stitching missing to seam near the slightly pitted metal drag. Good large size, being 106cm overall.
