T his is a nice Prussian M1889 Cavalry Officer's Degen Sword. The condition can be seen in the pictures however here is an additional rundown.
It has the Emperor Wilhelm II cypher on the handle. This example has a folding knuckle guard. The example measures 38 inches in length when measured from end to end w/ the scabbard on.
The blade on its own is 31 inches. It is maker marked Eikhorn and bears the company's logo at the base of the blade. It has some light rust stains and wear throughout both sides of the double gruved blade. The blade has a perfect fuller and edge, no dents or nicks and definately no battle scars. The prussian eagle is Brass and gilded on the folding guard. The rest of the grip is Embelished with Oak Leaf scroll and Gilding. The Black Grip is about Perfect with it's Triple Strand Wire Wrapping all present. The Steel Scabbard is dent free and most of the Original Black Paint is present & intact. There is a little bit of surface rust present and a bit of the Shinny Steel is starting to show thrugh the Black paint. The Belt Catch is still connected to the hanger loop on the scabbard. This is an honest out of the woodwork sword from my 40 year collection.
