Pre-WWI M1889 German Prussian Infantry Officers Sword withScabbard-Carl Eickhorn

Pre-WWI M odel 1889 German Prussian Infantry Officers Sword with Scabbard. R icasso is marked with back to back squirrels, that stands for Carl Eickhorn. The folding guard and the small piece attached to the grip have the Wilhelm II emblems on them.

The guard is a little loose, the grip is gone, only the twisted wire wrap is left and is still complete but is obviously loose, the leather finger loop is also gone and there is a screw to hold the last piece of leather remaining of it, and it looks like the whole guard was re-painted goldish brass color at some point after the screw was put in. The underside of the guard has "316" stamped onto it. The double fullered blade is straight, sharpened on one edge, and is clean except for a couple very small and minor rust spots.

The black enameled scabbard is solid, has one minor dent, light scattered paint loss throughout, and also appears to have been repainted possibly. Length of the blade measures 28 3/8" (7/8" wide x 3/16" thick), length of the sword is 34 1/8", and overall in the scabbard it is 35. Check out my other War items!!
