Pre-WWI M odel 1889 German Prussian Infantry Officers Sword with Scabbard. R icasso is marked with a workman swinging a hammer, over P. That stands for Pack, Ohliger & Co. The folding guard and the small piece attached to the grip have the Wilhelm II emblems on them.
The guard is tight, the bakelite grip is solid, and the three different sets of twisted wire wrap are complete but slightly loose. The leather finger loop is mostly complete but no longer attached at one end. The underside of the guard has "30" stamped onto it. The double fullered blade is straight, sharpened on one edge (both edges for the last 3 by the tip), a few nicks along the edge, and it's clean except for some areas of light surface rust mainly in the blood grooves.
The black enameled scabbard is solid, has two minor dents, and scattered paint loss throughout with surface rust. Length of the blade measures 31 3/8" (7/8" wide x 3/16" thick on blade edge side), length of the sword is 37 1/4", and overall in the scabbard it is 38 1/2. Check out my other War items!!
