Pre-WWI Officers Sword with Scabbard. Ricasso is marked Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Co. The steel guard and grip are tight but do have some surface rust, thickest on the backstrap and ears. There are the remnants of a design on the guard near the quillon area.
The blade is straight, unsharpened, no nicks, the spine has an "A" on it, and overall is mostly clean except for some minor age spots scattered throughout with a big one near the tip that is 1/2" x 3/4". The scabbard is solid with two dents, has the number "25" on the drag with a faint "A" inside a circle, and there are surface rust spots scattered throughout. Length of the blade measures 26 5/16" (1 7/16" wide x 5/16" thick spine), length of the sword is 32", and overall in the scabbard it is 32 7/8. I have been told by a fellow ebayer that this could be. Model 1895 Artillery Short sword for Argentina but another ebayer has suggested that is it a. N Argentine M1898 naval cutlass. Both agree that the design near the quillon represents Argentina.
