Model: 1905 M1 Garand / Springfield 1903 Rifle Bayonet & 1906 Marked RIA Scabbard. The left of the blade is marked "RIA / 1907" with an ordnance bomb, the obverse is marked "US / 94795".
The scabbard's rear is marked R. Description: This bayonet has a 16" blade, the OAL is 20 1/2".The bayonet retains its full length and was not cut down during WWII. The blade is in the bright with crisp markings, all surfaces appear to be original, the lug locking mechanism functions correctly.
The scabbard is brown leather wrapped around rawhide and wood with a brass hanger, which is correct for this period. Overall Condition: The blade has a bright sheen with spotting and mild erosion, the cutting edge has small dings and retains a strait edge. The guard and pommel have dark surfaces, the wood is smooth and nicely fit to the metal, without any shown damages. The scabbard has heavy losses at the bottom area, exposing bare rawhide which has also cracked open. The other surfaces have surface cracks and heavy scraping.
The brass hanger has dark corrosion. The bayonet still looks nice for being 110 years old! Please see our pictures for a better understanding of condition.
