RARE 1914 WW1 MILITARY ROYAL NAVAL AIR SERVICE PILOT 8 DAY POCKET WATCH SERVICE

ANOTHER GREAT WATCH FIND FROM ANTIQUETIMEONLINE. AN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE EARLY CIRCA 1914 MARK IVA WW1 BLACK DIAL OCTAVA 8 DAY LUMINOUS ROYAL NAVAL AIR SERVICE MILITARY BI PLANE PILOTS POCKET/COCKPIT WATCH OF OFFICER ISSUE WITH FULL MILITARY MARKINGS. This fantastic original white metal watch case is in good original condition for its age. The caseback and bezel show some pitting probably from the salt air but all original! The case measures 4.8cms (48mm) in diameter excluding the crown.

The case sides show small scratches and the bezel edge shows one or two nicks. The inside of the case is in good condition. THE CASE BACK IS MARKED WITH AN'A'&'S' WITH THE BROADARROW MARK IN BETWEEN THE LETTERS.

THIS MARK WAS FOR THE WW1 ROYAL NAVAL AIR SERVICE. The case back snaps on and off well and the unusual HINGED dustcover is excellent.

Wow this is one stunning BLACK dial. It is in sensational condition and looks beautiful. It has a matt finish and I can see one or two tiny light marks on it. The white painted ORIGINAL Arabic numerals are fantastic and have a lovely finish, as does the white painted outer minute track. The hands are superb and are white in color. They are in excellent condition.

The dial also has a sub second dial which is in excellent condition with a black sub-second hand. The dial is FULLY signed' Luminous S. Alexander & Son 8 day Mark IVA No 2571Z' The bottom of the dial under the sub second dial is signed with'Swiss made'.

The crystal is in good condition showing a few marks here and there. This stunning watch is fitted with an entirely original SIGNED Swiss made 8 DAY powerhouse. The movement looks to be very high grade and excellent quality. It has been FULLY SERVICED BY MY WATCH MAKER.

It is running sweetly, and is keeping decent time. It winds and sets beautifully. The crown looks to be original and is in very good condition. THIS IS A TRULY RARE ROYAL NAVAL AIR SERVICE MILITARY TIMEPIECE OF EXCELLENT QUALITY AND IN GREAT CONDITION!
