Extremely rare French Scolaire Model 1866 Chassepot Cadet Rifle Bayonet, a very unique arm in that it is identical to the French Model 1866 Chassepot, except that it is approx. Two thirds of the size and it is not equipped with the screw tightening device on top of the muzzle ring. Brass hilt with leaf spring catcch, crossguard with muzzle ring and strongly forwarded curved quillon with finial. The crossguard is stamped, 184. Excellent condition blade showing some scattered pin-prick pitting dots, yataghan fullered blade with the ricasso area of the blade stamped partially, "ANDREUX/PARS".

This measures 22.5" overall with a blade length of 18.5" and a muzzle ring inside diameter of. These were used for the Model 1866 Chassepot Cadet Rifle. A hard to find item.
