Rare Imperial German WW1 Era Naval Marine See-Batallion Pickelhaube Shako Helmet

This is an original 1906 (stamped) Imperial German See-bataillon shako or tschako. I believe it is an NCO version. It comes with its original parade plume. The shako was complete with its field badge until a recent move and Im now unable to locate it.

The pictures say it all. This is a rare untouched original item of Imperial German headwear. The See-Batallion was the Imperial German equivalent to the US Marines. They were a crack unit that provide security for naval vessel and overseas embassy protection.

They were also one of the key units in ground operations in Germanys overseas colonies. The kokarde are not missing as it appears but were never applied to See-Bataillon shako as they were a national unit and had no region affiliations. The images say it all. The shako is well marked on the interior with arsenal, unit and even company details.

There is also a private sticker applied with the name of the last man to wear this shako, Stein. The liner and everything is originally. The chinstrap assembly is in excellent order and complete. I got this shako while I lived in Japan off a Japanese collector of Imperial Japanese WW2 items.

He got it with a large collection he acquired. This adds to the history of the piece and makes sense to me because the Japanese were on the Allied or Entente side in WW1 and were responsible for seizing many of the Imperial German Colonial island possessions in the Pacific. It is easy to see how a Japanese veteran of the First War could have brought this back as a souvenir. Geographically and historically it makes a lot of sense. More images can be provided if desired.

More Imperial German pickelhaubes to list as well, pruning the collection. Weights 13 oz before boxed.
