Rare Scottish WW1 family medal group 3 x Casualties Gallipoli KOSB
This is a fantastic and extremely rare WW1 family medal group, consisting of four full entitlement groups to the Redpath family from Galashiels in the Scottish Borders. The Redpath family resided on 33 Douglas St, Galashiels and it appears all men from that address signed up to do their bit in the First World War.

There were unfortunately three casualties among the four members that signed up. The first casualty being Adam Redpath 1/4th King's Own Scottish Borderers who was killed at Dardanelles, Gallipoli on the 5th September 1915. Adam was born in Hawick, Roxburghshire and moved to Galashiels at a very young age. The second casualty being Alexander Redpath (Adams younger brother) who originally singed up in the 1/4th battalion King's Own Scottish Borderers, changing to the 6th battalion later on in the war. He was killed in action on the 3rd of May 1917 on France and Flanders.

He was born in Galashiels and also resided there with his family before the war. The third casualty was Robert Stevenson, a relation of the Redpath family (whom I believe to be the cousin). He also resided with the Redpath family at their address 33 Douglas St, Galashiels. Robert served with the 1st battalion King's Own Scottish Borderers and was killed in action on the 11th of April 1918 (France and Flanders). The fourth set of medals was awarded to William G Redpath (Father to Adam and Alexander).

He served with the Royal Scots Fusiliers from 1916 onwards. His full medal entitlement was the BWM and Victory medal.

William fortunately survived the War. 1914/15 star trio correctly impressed -''6742 PTE A REDPATH K. 1914/15 star trio correctly impressed -''6374 PTE A REDPATH K. Bwm and Victory medal correctly impressed -''203186 PTE.

Bwm and Victory medal correctly impressed -''53868 PTE W. This is a very interesting and historically important First World War group of medals and worthy of further research.
