Offered is a 1918 dated British'Vickers' made First World War 1907 pattern bayonet with scabbard & leather frog. Only 10,000 of these Vickers made 1907 pattern bayonets were made by the end of World War 1, making these the rarest of the manufacturers who supplied millions of these to the Commonwealth Armies during the war. Bayonet features a blued steel pommel, with working release button, with wooden grips and blued metal guard.
The 42.5 cm long steel blade shows the blood groove to the centre of each side of the blade and stamped Vickers (Vickers Limited), dated 5 18 (May 1918). The blade being factory sharpened only, with a rounded end tip. Standard leather & metal Mangrovite 44 marked scabbard. Retains a more modern WW2/1950's leather equipment frog, with fastening strap & stencilled name to rear. An impressive display piece, perfect for your Light Horse equipment display.
