The scabbard still has both original prongs for attaching to the belt. The makers mark of a Lion with AU LION underneath is on the ricasso.
This particular knife came from a family, it was never auctioned before and has been in my personal collection for some time. To better spot the modifications I have pictured it next to my unmodified Mark I Au Lion. My items are not new (unless noted) and usually are very old. There are dents, dings, chips, rust and other imperfections present. The item "Scarce Early Au Lion WW1 Mark I Trench Knife US 1918 Used & Modified in WW2" is in sale since Sunday, November 7, 2021.
