Nice Original FULL FAMILY WALL SIZE WWI PHOTO, Framed Antique Picture of WWI Soldier, Full Uniform, CAMP BACKGROUND. DESCRIPTION: Scans show it all. Early blow-up of studio photo with military background w/tents, etc. Appears to have been done shortly after the war, probably 1918 - 20.
Done from an original wartime photo. Probably done as a memorial to him, possibly because HE DIED, EITHER DURING THE WAR OR AFTERWARDS, E. DURING THE 1918 FLU EPIDEMIC. This was often done if the soldier was no longer there, as a remembrance and framed memorial / shrine to him on the wall. Could also have been simply a fancy memorial dedication to his service. Great pose, shown wearing uniform, at attentiont!!! Framed in an original period wide frame. HAS FANCY LARGE GOLD MEMORIAL FLORAL DECORATIONS IN THE CORNERS. Would look great on any wall as the centerpiece in a collection room or with any WWI display or camp scene. In very good condition overall, including both wood frame and drawing.Very large, and with the frame it measures 22 1/2" x 19" overall. Frame is about 3" wide, so photo itself measures net about 17" x 13. In excellent condition overall except for a small 2" x 3" break in the cover glass in the lower right hand corner. Hardly shows as is, but glass can be replaced if desired.
This meant a lot to the veteran and his family. You can picture it hanging in a place of honor in his house!!! Has wire on the back so it can go up on the wall as soon as it comes out of the box.
