The Teddy Bear is a universal symbol of affection and hope, adored by young and non-so-young alike. It is an irony that at the outbreak of the First World War most of Europe and England's Teddy Bears were sourced from Germany. When war broke out English manufacturers started designing and making their own bears, and in doing so created a softer-style Teddy Bear that endures to this day. Trooper Bert Jones is especially created to commemorate the service of the Australia Light Horse in the Great War. Bert wears the colour patch of 5 LH Regiment, which was raised in Queensland in September 1914 and fought at Gallipoli and then with the ANZAC Mounted Division in the Middle East. Trooper Jones stands approximately 40cm tall in his boots and slouch hat. He is beautifully presented in a specially branded Australia in Great War Centenary box and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
