US WW1 M1902 Cavalry Officer's Sword Saber Hanger Leather Unit Marked Insp S703

For sale here is a nice US WW1 Cavalry Officer's Leather Sword Hanger. The sword hanger appears to be unit and inspector marked. The brass belt hanger has a slightly bent hook and a nice even patina. The back of the brass belt hook is marked 33.

The leather straps are held in place with brass rivets that have nice even patina. The hanger straps have brass closure button studs, again with nice patina. There are no leather slides for adjustment. The long strap is approximately 20 1/2 open and has what appears to be an illegible marked out unit number and the tip of the strap is marked with what i believe is an inspector mark of. The short strap is approximately 12 long opened, has a unit mark of L33, and a probably inspector stamp of J.

Both straps show minor age, darkening and a few spots of stiffening. The short strap is slightly drier and wants to flip upside down when not weighted. Overall, this is a rare hanger in good overall condition that will make an excellent addition to any collection. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have.
