Waltham Gimballed Chronometer Watch ca WWI. This mounted chronometer watch was made by Waltham primarily for military use. The movement serial number, 19126952, dates to about 1913. The movement is a grade 845, which is 18 size, 21 jewel, lever set, adjusted 5 positions, and was railroad grade.
The movement is in excellent condition. The dial is painted metal and nice if a bit dark as per the image. I prefer that old items look old. The mahogany box is original and has two covers, the upper which opens to allow the time to be observed through a glass plate, and a lower cover that opens to access the movement, primarily to allow winding.
The box finish is better than normal with only light wear and marking. The box measures about 5 on each side. This watch runs and keeps reasonable time: within 5 minutes or LESS per day. I do not know the history of this watch, so it may need to be serviced.Sorry, this is NOT a "Make Offer" listing. I will not consider or reply to any offers.
