The silver case is hallmarked for 1917 The glass is perfect and has been replaced. The watch movement is lovely with its "Swiss made " stamp the other engraving looks like it may say electa or eterna? Please see the picture to decide for yourself , either way it is sheer quality and higher end.
Its winding and & working well, its keeping good time , it seems to loose 3-5 minutes per day so may require a regulation or just enjoy it as i have. The watch looks great , to find a nice black dial Mappin is very rare in itself , let alone one in this outstanding condition , normally watches this age have suffered considerably , i cant express how collector minty this is the pictures do not do it justice this is excellent It really is a very nice beautifully made timepiece , & a real "keeper" for the serious trench watch collector , it comes on a modern Chris Balm very nice quality thick leather strap , the lugs are 12mm in width. This really is a phenomenal looking watch & wonderful condition The watch measures 36mm across 33mm without the crown and around 39mm lugs to lugs The case snaps shut as it should with a nice hinge and i believe the crown is also original to the watch as it compliments the copper coloured sub dial hand. My watches are not serviced before sale and are sometimes 100 plus years old so can be fragile and sometimes get knocked in transit effecting the timekeeping (despite my bombproof packaging).
